Baked French Toast - 12 or 18Qt. Roaster
3 cups half-and-half or whole milk
3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp salt
3 Tbsp sugar
12 (¾" thick) diagonally cut baguette slices from a day-old baguette using enough butter to grease baking dish.
maple syrup, confectioners sugar, jam or fresh fruits such as strawberries, blueberries, etc.
Generously butter a Nesco® 13 x 9" baking pan. Whisk together half-and-half, eggs, vanilla, salt and two Tbsp sugar with Nesco® Grip 'n Go Blender.
Arrange baguette slices in dish and pour "custard" combination over bread. Turn slices over once or twice to coat and let stand at room temperature 30 minutes. During this time, preheat Nesco® Roaster Oven to 425º F. Place rack in cookwell.
Before placing baking dish in oven, sprinkle remaining sugar on top of bread and bake until custard is set and top is golden brown - approximately 30 to 35 minutes.
