I had a different sealer that became very hard to use due to the Strong pressure I needed to close the lid…. We Just bought this new Nesco Vacuum sealer-12….WOW! A++ Very easy to use No more hurting hand from hard lid ..This works awesome, I Love it, well worth the Money. Highly recommend.

My wife and I have lived a good, long life and had never heard the name “Sous Vide” until about a month ago. We looked it up, were “gobsmacked” with its versatility, bought one, and realized we didn’t have a vacuum sealer. We bought a cheap one, tried it, and sent it back. It didn’t suck. Yeah, I know. The suck is important when vacuum sealing. So, we looked through dozens of units on-line, and settled on this one – a hundred dollars more that the one we sent back. Guess what! One gets what one pays for. This is beautiful in every way. Okay . . . one questionable engineering issue. The unit has a glass look through in the lid. It shows the roll of bags. Why would I want to peek in at that? Buy it anyway. Look into some other window – somewhere.

I absolutely love the vacuum sealer so far. I would have given 5 stars, but my experience ordering it made me unhappy.

I thought that ordering directly from the company would be the cheapest and best option. I was very wrong. The price on the NESCO website turned out to be over $40 more expensive than other third-party sites. In addition, NESCO charges $15 shipping where many sites offer free shipping. When I emailed customer service about the difference, I was told “The retailers buy at a wholesale price and then determine the savings that they wish to pass along to the consumer.” While I love the product, I would strongly suggest buying this product from a third party retailer at significant savings.

This premium model offers bag storage and built in cutter. The double heat seal feature is nice when making bags, then again after the bag is filled. That’s become my “default” setting. We had Foodsaver for two decades, and this is a lot easier to use. Two things could be improved. 1) After filling the bag, you need to put something under the bag to support it when doing the final seal. Otherwise it’s a bit tricky keeping the bag under the two pressure tabs under the lid. 2) It takes a bit of time for the heat element to heat up on first use, and you need to “rest” the machine between bags. It will not make bag after bag without some time between them. Also: WHAT IS WITH the label placed on the handle, you know the one that when you try to remove it, leave a gooey film that remains on the surface???

Tried this brand and not real happy, be very careful of the seal, I’ve never stored mine with the lid closed and locked and my seals all sorts of messed up and has trouble making a seal. If you don’t double seal everything it will not stay sealed.

Yes, it’s a few more $$’s and yes it’s a touch larger than the rest but here’s the thing; There’s a huge difference between ‘cost’ and ‘value’. This one costs a little more but it’s a great value with a way less frustration in the long run. Buy once, cry once!

Has been the worst vacuum sealer I have ever used. there is no suction / vacuum action at all. This unit is brand new out of box. I have probably used 10ft of bag (by choice) testing to see what is wrong, whether it’s a bad seal, to type of bag or bag placement in vacuum tray. Back to reliable Food Saver. NO idea how this rate as the best vacuum sealer for 2022

  8. Janice

I purchased this sealer about 2 years ago and now it will not work. When you press the buttons it does not work. If I hit them real hard sometimes they come on. I bought the vs -12 and I have had cheaper sealers that have lasted longer than this one. I am definitely very dissatisfied and ver unimpressed with this product. I was very careful with it never closed lid unless I was trying to seal.

  9. Sandra Walters

Despite decades of experience with vacuum sealers, I could not get this machine to complete a seal. It would quit vacuuming with 6 seconds remaining at which point I had to do a manual seal resulting in considerable air being readmitted to the bag. Nesco was nice enough to send me a new one, but the same problem pervailed. Now I have 2 virtually new sealers that are of no use to me. I will be going back to Food Saver.

I have a Nesco VS-12. It will not hold a vacuum. It goes to 6 and stops and releases the vacuum. Will not seal in vacuum and seal mode. Manual seal is ok. Help!!

The vs12 deluxe is an excellent choice for light use. Very easy to operate, Nesco designed a very nice handle system that is easy to open & close. I’ve only one complaint, no cooling fan! If only sealing a couple items, it works great. Trying to seal back to back , such as breaking down & sealing a few pounds of chicken breast or ground meat, this unit fails miserably ( as do most other budget sealers). After about 6-10 seals, unit needs to cool down or starts short cycling the seal timer. Definitely NOT designed to do bulk. Process is very slow also.. I’m going to have to get a commercial sealer for my needs I suppose.

Bought this after reading great reviews. Huge mistake. I used it approximately 5-6 times, and it won’t vacuum, nor does it seal. Also, after retrieving one of my packages from the freezer that I had sealed, was very disappointed to find the seal did not hold. This was only less than 2 weeks after sealing. Highly disappointed. Had planned on purchasing other items by Nesco, but not anymore.

Not sure how this vacuum sealer gets such rave reviews, obviously reviews are by people that don’t really use them.
The VS-12 does work and has some nice options but it is painfully slow.
The cycle time of everything from just sealing, marinating or vacuum and sealing is way to slow.
Average time to make bags and seal up 6 items is around 10-15 min.
The drip tray is not removable which makes is a real pain to clean if any liquid gets in it.
The price point is good but that’s about it. If you actually use a vacuum sealer for doing more than one bag per usage, do yourself a favor and buy a Foodsaver or step up and purchase a commercial type machine. I am keeping the VS-12 for when I just want to seal something small and don’t feel like getting out my big machine.

When using the double seal, it leaves skips in both seals. Using the single seal, it leaves skips. Not impressed.
