German Poppyseed Ring - Jet Stream Oven
1/2 cup milk, scalded
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup margarine
1 pkg dry yeast
2¼ cups flour
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup poppy seed filling
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1½ tsp milk
1/2 tsp grated orange peel, optional
Stir sugar and margarine into scalded milk; cool to lukewarm. Stir in yeast, flour, eggs and salt; beat until smooth. Roll out on floured surface to a 16 x 6" rectangle. Spread evenly with poppy seed filling, leaving a 1" border.
Roll up "jellyroll" fashion from long side; pinch to seal. Shape into a ring on greased cookie/pizza pan or on foil-covered rack. With greased scissors, cut almost through ring at 1½" intervals. Cover and let rise in warm place until double in size, 30-45 minutes.
Assemble Nesco®/American Harvest® Jet Stream Oven® with one expander ring. Place bread in Jet Stream Oven® and bake at 325º F, HIGH fan speed for 14-16 minutes.
