I recently purchased the Carey Stovetop Popcorn Popper after spending several hours comparing models on various websites. I am completely satisfied with the Carey product sold by Nesco. During the summer, I am in a fire lookout tower with a gas burner stove, which is not what I have at home. (At home, I have a small air poppoer.) So, I wanted something to work well for a gas burner, but also not too expensive in case it didn’t work well. Enter the Carey into my summer life. Yes, it took me a two tries to develop a system: how to hold the top to keep the cogs engaged, how high to set the flame, when to stop cooking, and how to use only pot holders on a hot pot. I used only 1 tablespoon of coconut oil per batch.
However, after the first time, every other time has been virtually flawlees. That is, all kernels from NOW Real Foods organic popcorn pop each time. I listen for the end of popping and/or stiffness in turning the crank, (according to written instructions inside the box). Then I use avocado or olive oil and Himalayan salt for the same delicious result that I enjoy at home. I recommend the Carey product for anyone who pays a little attention to procedure and a small learning curve. Well worth the purchase! Thank you!
